  • FAQs about Elderberry Cuttings

Do elderberries need more than one variety to fruit?
Elderberries don’t require cross-pollination, but yields are much higher when you plant more than one variety. That’s why we always ship at least two.

When is the best time to plant cuttings?
Plant as early as possible in cold weather, late winter or early spring. Dormant cuttings establish best before warm weather sets in.

    How big will they grow?
Depending on the variety, elderberries grow between 5 and 15 feet tall. Ranch varieties are more compact; Adams and York grow taller.

What are the benefits of growing elderberries?
They’re antioxidant-rich, support pollinators, and provide abundant harvests for syrups, teas, and natural wellness products.
