Deep Breath Tea - Elderflower, Mullein & Spruce Tip Blend
Deep Breath Tea is our small-batch blend of three plants with deep roots in North American and European herbal traditions. Elderflower is grown on our farm. Spruce tips are wild-harvested each spring from our Northern Minnesota forest. Mullein leaf is sourced from a vetted herb supplier we trust for quality and purity.
About the Herbs
Elderflower (Sambucus canadensis) has been used for centuries in European and Native American herbal traditions. Documented in herbal texts going back to Hippocrates, elderflower has traditionally been used to support the immune system, ease inflammation, and address cold and flu symptoms. It is a long-standing folk remedy for sinus issues and respiratory complaints.
Mullein leaf (Verbascum thapsus) is one of the most well-documented herbs in North American folk medicine. Used by Cherokee, Mohegan, and Appalachian herbalists, mullein has traditionally been brewed as a tea for coughs, bronchial congestion, and respiratory complaints. It is classically described as an expectorant — historically used to ease the lungs and help clear phlegm.
Spruce tips (Picea glauca), wild-harvested each spring from young growth, were a vital part of life for Indigenous peoples of the Northern Forest and early Northern settlers. Spruce tips were used as a primary source of vitamin C — credited with preventing scurvy on long expeditions — and were also brewed for respiratory support, sore throats, and as a traditional botanical tonic.
About Our Tea
We blend these three traditional botanicals in balanced proportions, dried at low temperature in small batches for consistency. The tea is aromatic, slightly resinous, and warming — the smell alone is part of the experience.
Steeping: One rounded teaspoon in 8 ounces of just-boiled water. Cover and steep 5–7 minutes. Drink hot or chill for iced tea.
